Second month of the site

Very productive month, fortunately. I’m happy and pleasantly surprised I could do this much, considering all the other things I have on my plate. It’s a good feeling seeing it grow brick by brick.

I have completed what I set out in my previous post below, and a bit more; the Art page is pretty much complete. I decided to use gallery after all, otherwise it would take forever to upload each picture one by one with comments. I clustered them. It became so long to scroll to the bottom that I added a button in the corner to help navigate, which I really like.
Finding, selecting and sorting all those pictures from my past was the most tiresome work this month, but it’s worth it. I no longer have to scroll randomly on my phone to find some art if somebody would like to see some photos. It’s an easily accessible gallery finally. It’s not all of them, but an adequate selection.

I created the library page, which I am very happy about, and it already got an upgrade with tabs. Now I just need to populate those tabs a bit more.

I setup google analytics to have some sort of insight about the visitations, and SEO, which apparently is important for google searches, but I did not dig into it yet. Not priority.
Because of the analytics, the cookie policy had to be created, because a website must have cookie popup unfortunately nowadays, so all those legalities are tucked in the footnote now on separate pop-up windows. That footnote also got a little tidied.

Instead of a business card, I decided to create a flier, so I can pin that to some billboards around town, and hand out to some people. I’m not fully happy with the design (writing and pictures are small), but ordered 200 of it. That shouldn’t take very long to hand out if I’m out, and the next design will get more time and focus.
So yes, I started showing the site to a handful of people, but still not heavily, which is fine. I’m happy to focus on building the site up more.

Some other smaller adjustments and polishings were done.


Next steps will include:
Uploading some photography, and I think that will get its own page, but I might just tuck it under Art. We’ll see.. Apparently those should be watermarked because people or bots can steal and reuse them? So I’ll have to watermark them first. That will be another tiresome task ahead..

I’m thinking of creating a Garden page. Not much to do with gardening, more like a place of serenity, with virtues and well-being. That is still in the brewing stage.
I want to replace the welcome picture, as the current one is just a placeholder until I create my own. I just needed that nice garden vibe with a statue because that is how I envisioned the home page.

That should be enough goals for next month so I won’t overburden myself, but I do have some annual leave coming up so I will put some days’ work into it to speed it up. Further plans are still plenty.

I’ve got work for the last two days and won’t be doing much on the site, hence the post is today.
